Editions
eQuate ships in two editions: Developer Edition (installed on the designer's PC, includes a standalone Session Manager for quick testing) and Run-time Edition (installed on end-user PCs that don't use eQuate Web). The administrator publishes a shared runtime to a common server; end users always run against that copy.
Install the Developer Edition
- Run eQuateDev.exe from the install media or download.
- Follow the dialogs through to completion. Older versions may be removed automatically; configuration settings are preserved and offered to the new install.
- After install, configure a connection (QPort or WinQ) and verify it reaches the host before opening Capture.
Install the Run-time Edition
- Run eQuateUser.exe on each end-user PC (skip if the site uses eQuate Web exclusively).
- Point Session Manager at the published runtime location on the shared server.
Publish to the server
Once an application is built, publish from the developer PC. Publishing copies the runtime files, the application database, and per-user configuration to a directory on the shared server. End users pick the application up at sign-on without any local update step.
Quick test
The standalone Session Manager bundled with the Developer Edition is the fastest way to smoke-test a freshly captured application — run it locally before publishing to confirm forms render and host traffic flows.
