Working with the client window
The HGS UTS Client presents one or more screens inside a single client window. When several screens are open you can press Esc — or pick Next Screen from the Window menu — to cycle through them. Most actions are reachable from both a menu and a toolbar; right-clicking on the screen exposes a popup with the most common edit commands.
File menu
- Connect / Disconnect — toggle the host connection.
- Print Screen (All) — print an exact image of the entire screen.
- Print Screen (UTS) — traditional UTS print: from the previous SOE through the cursor.
- Close Print (Ctrl+L) — end an in-progress print operation.
- Printer Setup… — open the standard Windows printer dialog.
- User Configuration Manager… — change colours, fonts, key assignments and macros for the active screen.
- Diagnostics → Trace to Window / File / Both — start a per-screen trace; the right-click menu in the trace window adds Stay on Top, Copy to Clipboard, and Clear.
- Diagnostics → Clear Trace Window, Close Trace, FCC Map, Control Page, Transport Trace — extra trace controls (use FCC Map and Transport Trace only at KMSYS support's request).
- Close — disconnect and shut down the HGS32 window.
Edit menu
- Cut (Ctrl+X), Copy (Ctrl+C), Paste (Ctrl+V) — standard clipboard operations against the screen buffer.
- Select with the mouse, or with Shift + Home/End/Arrow keys to extend a selection by row or column.
- Input Recall — replay or retransmit lines previously sent to the host.
- View/Edit UTS Control Page — inspect and edit the UTS Control Page directly.
Macros, View, Window, and Help menus
- Macros → Run lists user-created key macros; Start Recorder / Stop Recorder capture a new macro and prompt for a name.
- View toggles the Function Key Bar, Tool Bar, Macro Bar, control characters, and inactive pages.
- Window switches between open screens (Next Screen) and arranges the layout.
- Help opens the integrated help and product information.
Configuration
User Configuration Manager
The HGS UTS User Configuration Manager bundles the screen-appearance, keyboard, and macro editors into a single dialog. Basic Terminal Settings cover screen size, auto-scaling, and the active palette; Configuration Actions let you save, default, import, and export the entire configuration.
Screen appearance, palette, and fonts
- Edit Screen Color Palette — adjust individual palette entries or reset to defaults.
- Screen Font and Automatic Font Scaling — pick a font face/size or let the client scale fonts to fit the window.
- Default / Import / Export — restore factory settings or move configurations between workstations.
Keyboard layouts and macros
- Custom Keyboard Layouts — graphic keyboard editor for assigning UTS or Windows actions to physical keys.
- Add or Redefine Key — capture a key sequence and bind it to a UTS terminal function or a recorded macro.
- Conflicts — the editor flags duplicate bindings so you can resolve them before saving.
- HGS Macro Manager — list available macros, edit them, and assign them to keys or toolbar buttons.
