UTS eXpress Enterprise — Emulator User Guide

Operator reference for the UTS eXpress Enterprise emulator: control panel, screens, menus, scripts, FCCs, snapshots, and notes.

Control Panel

The UTS eXpress Enterprise Control Panel is the central launcher and dock for every open screen. Screen buttons activate sessions, the Actions menu exposes session-wide commands, and the Dock Control Panel option pins it to a screen edge so end users always have it within reach.

  • Screen Buttons — one per configured screen; left click activates, right click reveals per-screen actions.
  • Minimize All — collapses every screen at once.
  • eXpress Notes — a per-session notebook (File / Edit / Options) for capturing context without leaving the emulator.
  • eXpress Snapshots — capture and review screen images with their own File / Edit menus and snapshot button bar.

Control Panel preferences

  • Keep Control Panel on top of other windows.
  • Auto Hide the control panel when docked.
  • Automatically close when all screens are closed.
  • Start with Windows.
  • Show Screen color tags so operators can spot environments at a glance.
  • Don't show splash screen on start.
  • Inactive Screen transparency — fade screens that aren't currently focused.

Settings location and trace folders

Change Settings Location moves the configuration between the per-user profile and an All Users profile, separately for Screen and General Settings vs. Connection Settings. The Terminal Trace and Transport Trace folders can be redirected to any path your support process expects.

File menu

All standard UTS print modes are available — Print Screen (All), Print Screen (UTS), Close Print, plus Printer Assignment and Print Window Image. The Capture Screen / Print / Save / Clear / Send To… commands let an operator collect screen sets and ship them by email.

Edit, View, Scripts/Macros, FCCs, Window, Help

  • Edit — clipboard, Input Recall, block selection, Edit Control Page, Change Route Settings.
  • View — keyboard help, inactive page, mouse tracking, reference grid, control characters.
  • Scripts/Macros — run saved scripts or macros and start/stop the recorder.
  • FCCs — Locate, Generate, Clear, Enable for UTS form-control characters.
  • Window — Resize Screen to Font, Next Screen (Esc), Previous Screen (Shift+Esc).
  • Help — Contents, This Window, About.

Recorded Script / Macro Generator

After recording, the Generator turns the recording into a runnable script or macro. Choose between script and macro output, pick the language syntax, optionally mark the result as a Sign-On script/macro, name it, and pick a transmit option to control how the generated text is sent to the host.

Send Screen as E-Mail

  • Send Contents of Screen as Text — paste the visible buffer into a new email.
  • Send Screen Window as JPEG Attachment — attach a screenshot of the active screen.

UTS Control Page and FCC Generate

View/Edit UTS Control Page exposes XMIT, Send, Recv, Send Path, and Recv. Path so an operator can inspect or modify the device routing fields before transmitting. FCC Generate lets you build form-control characters with the FCC Settings dialog when designing a new screen layout.
