Configure WinQ UTS Connections (eXpress Connect)

Visually configure routes, open ids, and virtual destinations for UTS eXpress Connect, including TP0/HLC, DCP-IP-router, and HGS.

Last updated May 8, 2008

Visual configuration overview

eXpress Connect Visual Configuration lets you build a route from a Windows client to a Unisys 2200 host by dragging and linking three object types — Routes, Open Ids, and Virtual Destinations (Hosts) — on a single canvas. Drag from a Route's right-side circle onto an Open Id to link them; drag from an Open Id onto a Virtual Destination to link the two.

  • Select — left-click an existing object
  • Edit — double-click an object to open its property sheet
  • Link — drag from a source object's connector onto a target object
  • Create — left-click and drag the words "Routes", "Open Ids", or "Virtual Destinations" onto the canvas (right-click for a menu)

Edit Virtual Destination

Defines a potential host and its connection type. Supported types are TP0 through an HLC and TP0 through a DCP acting as an IP router. Provide the destination IP address, IP port, connection type, and (optionally) flag the destination as the default and enable authentication and encryption.

Edit Open Id

Defines an open id bound to a CMS process or Telcon XEU. Use Manage Prcs/XEU to add, rename, or delete CMS processes and Telcon XEUs in the available list, and Manage SPSO… to set required SPSO authentication options. Link an open id to a virtual destination from its Selected Virtual Destination drop-down ("<None>" unlinks).

Edit Route

Routes describe the client-side endpoint. Bind a route to its open id via the Selected Open Id drop-down. When Host Gateway Server (HGS) is the gateway and HGS will generate the station name, check Gateway Server Generated Station Name and provide terminal information accordingly.

Message strings and defaults

Edit eXpress Connect Message Settings exposes the protocol strings used by eXpress Connect: Open, Close, Session Opened, Session Closed, Enter Session, Invalid Destination, Output Interrupt, and Open in Progress. Click Defaults to restore the original values.

Settings location

By default, settings live under the current user (in Application Data). To share a single configuration across all users of a machine, switch the eXpress Connect UTS Settings location to All Users. The Settings Location feature is available only when Use configuration lock options is checked.

Note: Individual users should NOT be allowed to change settings when configuration is common to all users of the same machine.
