What you configure
A printer environment ties a T27 host print device to a Windows printer. The Print Service Manager hosts one configuration per environment; this guide covers the fields you set when adding or editing an environment.
Connection settings
- Environment Name — unique identifier shown in the manager.
- Station Name — COMS-configured name passed to the host.
- IP Address / Port — typically 23 (clear) or 992 (SSL); HGS uses its configured port.
- Connection Type — direct TCP/IP or KMSYS Host Gateway Server.
- HGS Security — None, Authenticate, or Authenticate + Encrypted (HGS only).
Windows printer assignment
- Windows Printer — the destination printer; defaults to the system default.
- Paper Size, Orientation, Source — overrides for the assigned printer.
- Font — fixed-pitch font and point size used for host print streams.
- Margins — printable area inside the paper.
Page handling
- Form Feed handling — interpret host FF as a hard page break, suppress trailing FFs, etc.
- Page wrap and column truncation — what to do when the host stream exceeds the page.
- Translation — character translation tables for national or custom code pages.
- Job separator — optional banner page between jobs.
Tracing and diagnostics
Each environment can capture a transport or terminal trace to a configured folder. Use the lowest verbosity that still reproduces the issue — transport traces grow quickly. The Print Service Manager's View → Show Selected Print Service opens the PTS dialog with running totals (status, bytes printed, bytes since start) so you can verify the configuration is working before turning tracing off.
Settings location
Configuration is stored in the Windows registry per user by default. Change Settings Location moves it to a shared (All Users) location for kiosks and shared print stations; use the matching configuration lock to keep end users from changing it.
